October 25, 2015 - USA Dance Chapter 3017 Syracuse Board Members met with the Executive Director of Clear Path for Veterans Melissa Spicer and Financial Assistant Susan Goodfellow to present a "check" for funds raised during their September 27 fund raiser. Chapter President Ilona Prouty, Vice President John Plony and Chief Operating Officer Sharon Dellinger received a tour of the facility overlooking a beautiful valley which straddles Madison and Onondaga counties. Clear Path for Veterans is a 78,000 sq. ft. facility which offers services to veterans and their families such as Dogs2Vets, which matches veterans with service animals; a culinary program which trains veterans in the culinary arts and helps them find jobs; and other employment, recreation, and wellness programs. They currently serve a population of over 1,000 veterans and their families, many of whom have served in the recent Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns. In choosing Clear Path as a beneficiary of the fund raiser, one of the criteria was the fact that it served both veterans and rescued dogs.

The fund raiser, which was held on September 27, 2015, raised $1200 to be donated to Clear Path. These funds were raised through an afternooon of workshops held at Tawn Marie's Dance Center in Liverpool, an evening dance held at Pensabene's Casa Grande in Syracuse, concession sales, and a raffle. It was the first such event held by the Chapter and it was a resounding success. All of the workshop instructors volunteered their time and expertise and additional support for the events was provided by a dedicated cadre of volunteers. The fund raiser was also a way of celebrating National Ballroom Dance week, which ran from September 19 - 27.
